GROVE PRESS Black Cat B-268-R |
RATIONALE OF THE DIRTY JOKE An Analysis of Sexual Humor Gershon Legman |
|
1971 (First Black Cat Edition) 811 pp. original price $2.25 |
|
I must confess dear readers that I was intimidated by the "Holmesian" girth of this tome! Hah, I jest. A weighty but fascinating (perhaps overwritten) investigation of the subjects and motifs of the dirty joke! | |
VERY GOOD PLUS or better Bright, clean and lightly-worn, though likely unread softcover book with spine split to head of spine and general shelfwear. A nice copy of this hard-to-find book. |

"Nothing in the sexual education of the child is so difficult to absorb as the fact of the parents' intercourse: overhearing it, worrying about it, coming upon its traces, and possibly actually observing it and misapprehending its nature as a sadistic or anal act, and finally arguing bitterly with playmates as to whether such a thing exists at all, by what bodily aperature it is effected and ones own parents could conceivably do anything of the kind." |
