![]() Don Gilmore The presence of Donald H. Gilmore looms large in the history of Greenleaf publishing and in adult publishing in general. Briefly, he was both an author, editor and the overseer of a fascinating writer's colony of eroticians enjoying the sun and sensibilities of Guadalajara, Mexico in the late 1960s. Earl Kemp describes his time spent South of the Border, often intertwined with Don Gilmore in his ongoing EZINE #12. In brief, Gilmore appeared in Guadalajara, Mexico around 1966 where he began recruiting would-be pornographers from the pool of rebellious and spirited expatriates who had recently taken up residence in the area. Living in palatial splendor, Gilmore was in his element coaching, editing and marketing the efforts of the various English-speaking ex-pats primarily to Earl Kemp in his capacity as Editor-in-Chief of Greenleaf books (who himself had moved into his own lush retreat in nearby Ajijic). Gilmore's Porno Factory as it came to be known produced a steady stream of erotica from 1966 through 1972 from such writers as Vivien Kern (writing as "Vivian Blaine"), Peggy Winter, Linda DuBrieul among many others, including relatives and acquaintances of the above. Gilmore himself wrote a number of Greenleaf books, both fiction as well as non-fiction. Gilmore evacuated his Mexican palace mysteriously one weekend in late 1972 and little is known of his subsequent endeavours or present whearabouts. New titles will be added as they become available. |
