![]() Iris Owens Sad to report, Iris Owens recently passed away on June 16, 2008. She was an important figure in the development of popular erotica, as she was aomng the seminal figures germinating the Olympia Press in the mid-1950s. Writing as "Harriet Daimler," her books included INNOCENCE, THE WOMAN THING, THE ORGANIZATION, THE PELASURE THIEVES, DARLING, THE LOVER and INSENSITIVE. Later emerging as a more mainstream author, she wrote and published under her own name, AFTER CLAUDE. While writing for Girodias, she is said to have had an affair with Alexander Trocchi, modeling the "MacDonald" character in THE WOMAN THING after the Scotsman.
