![]() "Andrew Shaw" The pen-name of "Andrew Shaw" was originally attached to the work of Lawrence Block for his Greenleaf-published novels of the early 1960s. While most (if not all) of the early "Shaw" novels were written by Block, starting around 1963-64 the authorship of the "Shaw" books shifts to include the work of other writers such as William Coons and later, Hal Dresner. Perhaps in an effort to vary the author bylines of the Greenleaf publications, the "Andrew Shaw" house name was mutated into both "Andrew Shole" and "Andrew Shay" for a brief period in 1963. The "Shaw" house name continued to appear on Greenleaf publications through the late 1960s and even appears as late as 1973. Lynn Munroe has closely examined the early work of Lawrence Block and his seminal essay on the early Greenelaf/Andrew Shaw books "The First Andrew Shaw" appears in Earl Kemp's EL #14. Equally informative is the more recent Ed Gorman examination entitled "Lawrence with a W and Block with a K." New Shaw titles will be added as they become available. |
