The genesis of Mass Market Sleaze Publishing goes back to the "Spicy" pulps of the 1920s (and perhaps before), but for me, it was the mid-1950s when the books began to sneak away from tawdry romance and sexy hard-boiled crime into the realm now known comfortably as "sleaze." Here is a panorama of pioneer sleaze publishing houses -- some produced enormous runs, diversifying into several book lines, and some were fly-by-night operations cranking out only a couple titles -- but all produced fascinating books with tantalizing stories packed between alluring covers. Just pick any publisher's catalog, dig in and start snooping!
New Books will be added as they become available. Any info on little-known publishers will be appreciated and the site updated accordingly.
